How Mutations Work — No Jargon
In Grow a Garden, mutations are basically buffs you put on your crops to multiply their value. A Rainbow mutation adds 50x the base value. A Gold one adds 20x. Mutation Tiers Overview
- Basic Mutations (2x–10x) — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Candy Corn, Caramel, Chocolate. Easy to get early game and great for building wealth.
- Advanced Mutations (10x–50x) — Epic, Legendary, Gold, Rainbow, Neon. Mid-game staples for serious value multiplication.
- Legendary Combinations (50x–365x) — Celestial, Aurora, Galactic, Cosmic, Astral. Endgame chase mutations requiring specific crop combos.
- Special Mutations — Diamond, Moonstone, Ruby, Jade, Emerald, Amethyst, Topaz, Opal, Onyx. Each adds unique effects beyond raw multiplier.
How Mutation Stacking Works
It's not simple multiplication. If you have Rainbow (50x) and Gold (20x) on the same crop, the total multiplier is 69x, not 1000x. The formula is 1 + (50-1) + (20-1) = 69. The more mutations you stack, the higher the total, but each additional mutation adds diminishing returns relative to the base.
Legendary Mutation Combos
Some mutations combine into even crazier ones. Combine Celestial + Aurora and you get Cosmic (240x). Then add Galactic on top and you get Astral (365x) — currently the highest multiplier in the game. If you are serious about maxing out your crop value, these are the combinations to chase.
